Chances are, you’ve heard success stories about the good results that others have had from acupuncture in Miami. But you may be unsure about exactly what acupuncture is, what it can treat, how it feels, and if it is safe.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a centuries-old practice of Chinese medicine that takes a holistic approach to you as a person, treating the underlying causes of your pain, disease or medical condition instead of just alleviating your symptoms.
For acupuncture (as well as all of the natural medicine treatments offered at New You Acupuncture Wellness Center), diagnosis is based on a full analysis of all aspects of your life and health. The goal is to understand what you are feeling and why you are feeling it. Your specific symptoms and patterns will then determine the unique set of acupuncture points to be stimulated, either with or without the use of acupuncture needles, in order to best assist your body in its self-healing process.
Miami Acupuncturist Deborah Btesh offers:
For many years the World Health Organization (WHO)1 has recognized the use of acupuncture in the treatment of a wide range of common illnesses and conditions, including:
(1) World Health Organization. Viewpoint on Acupuncture. Geneva, Switzerland: World Health Organization, 1979.
Your initial visit with Acupuncture Physician Deborah Btesh will be quite long, and will include a very long list of questions about seemingly unrelated things. For example, in addition to learning about your symptoms and medical history, Deborah will want to know about your diet, sleep patterns, water intake and output, lifestyle, emotional state, the temperature at which you are most comfortable, and much more. As part of the physical exam she will look at your tongue and check your pulses.
This interview and exam is an important part of the holistic approach to healing upon which acupuncture and Oriental Medicine are based. Deborah needs to get to know you and understand what your life is like in order to maximize the help that she can provide.
